The original photograph for this piece was taken after a huge storm some years ago, which brought a lot of trees down across the south of England. In many cases, horses were the only way to clear the fallen timber without ruining what was left of the woodlands. Driving through the New Forest in Hampshire one day, we came across this tranquil scene with the draft horse waited patiently for his handler to hook up a fallen tree trunk before hauling it out of the woods and to the waiting tractor. Watching the relationship between horse and human as they performed this age old task was truly inspirational. The photograph has been treated with digital painting techniques to give it the look of an oil painting.
