Description
This photograph of a Scimitar-Horned Oryx was taken at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, Texas. A portion of the proceeds from sales of this photograph will be donated to the Center.
The Scimitar-horned Oryx are native to the semi-desert regions from Morocco and Sengal to Egypt and Sudan, where their conservation status is Critically Endangered (CE).
Unlike other members of the oryx species, their horns curve back in a large arc.
Their white and light-brown coloring provides perfect desert camoflage.
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center participated in a reintroduction project for scimitar-horned oryx by supploy animals in 2006.
